South Essex Golf Course
The unique Course design at South Essex provides 3 separate loops of 9 Holes. Designed with spaciousness and nature in mind, The Heron, Hawk and Vixen provide a variety of interesting course combinations. Blending into the well established and gently rolling landscape, each hole is unique and offers a challenge to every level of Golfer.
The Heron
The 3rd on this loop poses a challenge to even the most accomplished of Golfer. Measuring 462 Yards from the competition tee, only attack the green in 2 if you are feeling brave! A good drive will take you up the gently undulating Fairway, leaving a view to the green which is protected by a large oak tree to the left and a ditch across its front. This green is two teered so make sure you have the right club in hand.

Above is the 6th, a par 4 mearsuring 381 yards from the back tee's. With a stroke index of 9 this hole looks easier then it plays. From the tee its a blind 1st shot, the brave take a driver and a fairway wood/long iron for the more faint hearted. If your slightly left then its blind into the green from behing the tree, fade the ball out right and have all the green in your sight.
The 8th is a favourite with many visitors to the course. A testing Par 3 needing a long iron or rescue club from its elevated tee, while offering a fantastic view of the surrounding area, will nearly always provide a strong wind making the Green seem even further away!
The Hawk
The most memorable part of the Hawk Course is the home stretch of holes 7, 8 and 9.

The Par 4 7th is one of the toughest throughout the 27 Holes. At 421 Yards, a slightly elevated Tee provides the view to a fairway sloping steeply from left to right. Any drive taking you to the right hand side will leave a blind approach shot to a well protected green.
A true three shot Par 5 completes the home stretch, this time doglegging from right to left with the fairway sloping towards a ditch running along the far side of the fairway. Your 2nd and 3rd shots take you towards the Green in view of the welcoming clubhouse and surrounding water features.
The Vixen
The Vixen is the shorter of the 3 loops. but still provides a fantastic challenge for all standards of golfers.

The 4th hole (road hole) is the hole you will cross as you drive into the course providing a tricky tee shot which is rewarded with an easy pitch into the bunker protected green.
The 6th is a long par 3 measuring 238 yards from the white tee's, on some days a driver for the best of players. The 7th is a short par 4. But the carefully positioned water hazard across the far end of the fairway leaves you plenty to think about from the tee. Lay up and leave yourself a mid iron into the Green, or go for it with the Driver!
A 565 Yard Par 5 completes Course, with a good drive leading to a fantastic view of a gently sloping fairway all the way down towards the Green. The more adventurous Golfer will see an opportunity of making the Green in two, but with a narrow target, accuracy is again the key.
Which ever loop you play here at South Essex your sure to be challenged by a veriety of holes designed for both
